The peeps over at “Latino Review” have discovered that former “Arrested Development” star Alia Shawkat has joined the cast of eponymous 70s teen band biopic THE RUNAWAYS as eighteen year old bass player Robin. And considering actual Runaways bass players included Micki Steele, Peggy Foster and Jackie Fox, LR speculates that they couldn’t secure the life rights to any of these people so “Robin” is an invention likely based on original bassist Steele. She joins Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford. The film is currently in production in and around Los Angeles and is set for release sometime next year, probably around the same time the third film in Stewart’s TWILIGHT SAGA franchise, ECLIPSE, will be released in order to capitalize on its ridiculous popularity.
