Amanda Seyfried Gone

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the release of JENNIFER'S BODY (which we talked about a few days ago) comes word that JENNIFER'S BODY co-star Amanda Seyfried is in negotiations to star in the supernatural horror-thriller THINGS HEARD & SEEN for Netflix.

Seyfried is a great choice for the lead, and my interest in this project is boosted even higher by the fact that it's being written and directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. While I haven't seen most of Berman and Pulcini's films, I am a fan of their 2003 Harvey Pekar biopic AMERICAN SPLENDOR, so I look forward to seeing how they'll handle horror.

THINGS HEARD & SEEN will tell the story of

a young couple who move to a farm near a small town in upstate New York. Their new home is cursed by the murder of its former owners and as haunted secrets reveal themselves, the husband and wife’s own marriage is shown to have a darkness unto itself.

Seyfried will be playing "the wife who is struggling to adjust to the small-town life and who comes to believe her house is haunted."

Netflix and the writers/directors are hoping to capture a tone similar to The Haunting of Hill House with this one. The script is based on the Elizabeth Brundage novel All Things Cease to Appear – copies of which can be purchased at THIS LINK.

Produced by Anthony Bregman, Stefanie Azpiazu, Peter Cron, and Julie Cohen, THINGS HEARD & SEEN is expected to start filming this fall.
