An unassuming femme fatale wrecks shop in the trailer for Luc Besson’s Anna

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Famed filmmaker Luc Besson is up to his old tricks once again, for his latest project featuring a femme fatale with both looks and moves that could kill. In her motion picture debut, Russian supermodel Sasha Luss stars in ANNA, an upcoming action-thriller vehicle that centers on the exploits of Anna Poliatova, a secretive and striking beauty that will unleash her indelible strength and skill to become one of the world's most feared government assassins.

Joining Luss for Besson's latest balls-to-the-wall roller coaster ride are Helen Mirren, Cillian Murphy, Luke Evans, Lera Abova, Alexander Petrov, and Anna Krippa. Besson will serve as both the film's director and writer, thereby securing a bit of that NIKITA and THE FIFTH ELEMENT flare. The trailer makes no bones about showcasing one of the film's more intense action sequences, wherein Anna dispatches a hotel lobby filled to the brim with inadequate henchmen. Some might consider Besson to be something of a "long bet" these days, though I must admit that after watching Charlize Theron change the game in David Leitch's ATOMIC BLONDE, I am very much game for another killer of men to enter the fray.

ANNA is set to strut into theaters on July 10th.
