Andre 3000 is Jimi Hendrix in the first clip from All is By My Side

I wondered when that Jimi Hendrix biopic, ALL IS BY MY SIDE was going to see the light of day. Finally we get a clip of the biopic that features Andre Benjamin (AKA Andre 3000 from Outkast) and Imogen Poots.

They must have decided to put the promotion into gear after writer-director John Ridley won “Best Adapted Screenplay” for 12 YEARS A SLAVE. Ridley, who is a veteran of the small screen, serves in the same capacity on this Hendrix biopic, which hasn’t had much support in the way of marketing. Hell, I haven’t even heard anyone talking about it. One reason might be because none of Jimi’s music was lent to the film. A thing like that is kind of a big deal when it comes to the biopic of a musician, right?

Regardless, I am still intrigued to see Benjamin’s portrayal. The clip shows that he seems to have Jimi down, at least from what I can see after about 1 minute and a half. Not release date yet. The first screening will be held at SXSW this year.
