Another superhero comes to Netflix with this trailer for iBOY

After an accident, Tom wakes from a coma to discover that fragments of his smart phone have been embedded in his head, and worse, that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of super powers. That’s right; his cell phone has given him superpowers! Check out the first trailer for Netflix’s IBOY below!

If there’s a medium where a story like this can work, it’s Netflix. I certainly hope there’s more to it than “cell phone shrapnel gave me powers”, because that’s just not how it works. If you’re going to pull off something THAT cheesy, you have to go the full nine. This trailer leads me to believe that they’re taking things pretty seriously. Still, I’m willing to bet that there are worse superhero stories you could invest time into. At least you can get your fill of Maisie Williams before the next disappointing season of Game of Thrones arrives!

IBOY hits Netflix on January 27th.
