Bill & Ted Face the Music, Anthony Carrigan, Keanu Reeves

Station! A most triumphant casting announcement for BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC has been dialed in by The Hollywood Reporter this afternoon, with a report confirming that BARRY and GOTHAM actor Anthony Carrigan will play the villain for director Dean Parisot's long-gestating threequel.

Previously, BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC raised its horns with the addition of Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving to its cast. As per the most excellent reveal, Lundy-Paine, who's starred in THE GLASS CASTLE and the TV series ATYPICAL, will arrive as Billie Logan, daughter of Ted "Theodore" Logan (Keanu Reeves). As for Weaving, who melted my heart and scared me half to death in McG's highly-underrated horror comedy THE BABYSITTER, she will play Thea Preston, the daughter Bill S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter).

As to be expected, Reeves and Winter will reprise their roles as the San Dimas slackers, while William Sadler is also confirmed to be returning as Death. The third (and perhaps final) film is once again produced by Scott Kroopf along with Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce. Steven Soderbergh is executive producing and is set to be joined by R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer, and John Santilli for the effort.

Details related to Carrigan's character are connected to the other end of an unlisted number at the moment, though we have it on good authority that he'll be causing quite a panic for Bill and Ted, the dream team behind the peace-bringing rock group Wyld Stallyns.

Here's the official synopsis for BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC:

When we last met Bill and Ted they were time-traveling teenagers trying to pass history class and win the battle of the bands. Once prophesized to save the universe with their rock and roll, middle age and the responsibilities of family have caught up with these two best friends who have not yet fulfilled their destiny. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, Bill and Ted find much, much more than just a song.

BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC will arrive like heroes out of time in cinemas on August 21, 2020.
