A few months ago, Deskpop Entertainment gave a digital and VOD release to director Harley Wallen’s “raw and violent” urban legend thriller Ash and Bone. Now Deadline reports that Deskpop has also picked up the worldwide distribution rights to Wallen’s vampire film Beneath Us All, which stars Sean Whalen and Yan Birch. Back in 1991, Whalen and Birch played Roach and The Stairmaster, respectively, in the Wes Craven film The People Under the Stairs (watch it HERE). Deskpop hasn’t announced a release date for Beneath Us All yet, but they’re planning to send it out into the world sometime in “early 2023“. So they’ll need to move fast to reach that goal.
Scripted by Bret Miller, Beneath Us All centers on Julie, a foster child heading for her 18th birthday. She finds an item buried in the woods with something unspeakable inside.
Julie is played by Angelina Danielle Cama (An Intrusion). Also in the cast are Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3), Kaiti Wallen (Eternal Code), Michael Alexander (Moving Parts), and Wallen himself. Sean Whalen plays Todd, Julie’s step father, who struggles with his gambling issues.
Wallen said, “It felt good and overdue to reconnect Roach and The Stairmaster for the first time since their iconic performances in Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs.“
Beneath Us All was shot in Lake Orion, Michigan in April of last year. Wallen produced the film with Michael Alexander of Westside Warrior Films, his wife Kaiti Wallen of Painted Creek Productions, Annette Cama of Cama Productions, and Joe Williamson of The Williamson Management Company.
Wallen has over sixty acting credits to his name, and started directing short films several years ago. He co-directed his first features with Walbert Beltran and Jerry Hayes, but quickly went solo. His feature directing credits include the comedy United Colors of Bennett Song, the action thriller Betrayed, the horror film Agramon’s Gate, the crime thriller Eternal Code, the horror thriller Enigma, the action movie Abstruse, the comedy A Bennett Song Holiday, and the aforementioned Ash and Bone.
