Bill Clinton’s novel The President is Missing becoming a drama at Showtime!

So, if you haven't heard, former President Bill Clinton is writing a novel – alongside prolific crime-thriller author James Patterson – called THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING. It tells the story of President who goes missing. Go figure.

Anyway, I'm not the biggest fan of Patterson's, and I don't know if Clinton has ever written any fiction before (cue hacky political joke), but they pitched the idea to studios and apparently Showtime bought it and is making a show out of it!

Here's what Showtime Networks president and CEO David Nevins said about the project:

Bringing The President Is Missing to Showtime is a coup of the highest order…The pairing of President Clinton with fiction’s most gripping storyteller promises a kinetic experience, one that the book world has salivated over for months and that now will dovetail perfectly into a politically relevant, character-based action series for our network.

Anyway, James Patterson went on to say, "The White House is such an exciting world to explore and is made even more so with the unique insights of a former President", while Bill Clinton added, "I’m really enjoying writing this book and working with Jim…and I can’t wait to see Showtime bring the characters to life.

Whatever your political leanings, I find this fascinating. I don't think we've ever had a President write his own stories, especially after their tenure. So it will be interesting to see a first-hand account of things that only a President would really know about (despite other political thrillers having tons of research behind them). So that makes intriguing by itself. I'm not sure I'm necessarily looking forward to it, but I can't deny I'm very curious!

So what do you Schmoes think? You down for THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING? Either way, sound off below!
