Disney+ has unleashed a new featurette for The Book of Boba Fett that takes us behind the scenes of the iconic Star Wars character’s new series. In the Book of Boba Fett featurette, actors Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen join filmmakers Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Robert Rodriguez for a trip down memory lane for the legendary bounty hunter.

“Boba Fett was a ‘man with no name’ kind of character, lone gunslinger, when I was a kid,” explains Filoni. “You didn’t know his face. You didn’t know who he was.” It’s true, and that mystique helped spark the imaginations of fans everywhere concerning who Boba Fett was beneath the helmet. Though he was used sparingly in the original trilogy, Boba Fett became one of Star Wars‘ breakout characters. To this day, fans can never get enough of Boba, and now The Book of Boba Fett is poised to present him in ways Star Wars fans have been dreaming of for generations.

To that end, Morrison, who plays the titular Star Wars character, says the new series will explore “where he’s been and how he’s changing.”

“There’s a rawness to everything,” Wen adds excitedly in the new featurette when talking about the new series. “That’s what I love about it. I think that’s what gives it its authenticity.”

Here’s the official synopsis for The Book of Boba Fett:

The Book of Boba Fett, an exciting Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

The Book of Boba Fett is one of several live-action Star Wars series heading to Disney+. Other projects include the Rogue One prequel Andor, Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. A third season of The Mandalorian was also confirmed by Disney, though no release date has been announced just yet.

The Book of Boba Fett will find Fett and Fennec establishing themselves as the new rulers of Tatooine. You see, Jabba’s death in Return of the Jedi has paved the way for a power struggle in the dangerous territory, and criminal factions are looking to assume power. Boba and Fennec aren’t about to let that happen and will be placing themselves in a risky position to stake their claim to the throne.

Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre,” says Favreau about the positioning for power in the new series.
