Brad Pitt is tasked with killing his wife in the new trailer for Allied

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Robert Zemeckis' ALLIED follows intelligence officer Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war. Vatan is tasked with finding out if his wife is a spy and if so, to kill her.

As the trailer began, I thought it may have been a clone of the last trailer that was slapped together. I was glad to be proven wrong, and excited to see that a different angle was introduced here. The idea that his wife could be a German spy is an exciting one, and my one hope is that the film doesn't hang onto that mystery, but rather we find out right away and spend the rest of the film trying to deal with the aftermath. Either way, it looks like ALLIED has all the ingredients of an exciting thriller!

ALLIED opens in theaters on November 23, 2016
