Remember how that one time, in BRUNO, Sacha Baron Cohen went to the Middle East and begged a terrorist to kidnap him? Well, as it turns out, the other members of Al Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades didn’t take too kindly to being associated with all things flamboyant and leopard printed, and they have some ideas about just how Cohen should be punished for his insolence
A spokesman for the group just came out with this statement, which caused Cohen to up his security detail immediately. “We reserve the right to respond in the way we find suitable against this man. The movie was part of a conspiracy against the Al Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades.”
BRUNO was a lot of things, but that it was a conspiracy against the Al Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades seems low on the likely spectrum. In fact, they should be happy for the press, as I doubt the AAMB was getting much public attention before the film. Now I’m sure they’re on at least a dozen different watch lists!
