Things just got very interesting with regard to the planned television adaptation of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles novels. Recently while participating in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Amy Powell, president of Paramount Television and Digital Entertainment, revealed that HANNIBAL and AMERICAN GODS creative Bryan Fuller is working on the forthcoming Vampire Chronicles project alongside Anne Rice and her son, Christopher Rice.

When speaking with THR, Powell told the entertainment outlet “We bought 11 novels as part of the Vampire Chronicles initiative,” she said. “Bryan Fuller is working with Anne Rice and [her son] Chris, who are writing the pilot. We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.” Um, yes please!

Most recently, Fuller has been placed in charge of reviving Steven Spielberg's AMAZING STORIES for Apple. Whether he'll be able to dedicate himself as showrunner for both of the revival projects has yet to be seen, though I wouldn't put it past him to do so.

Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles tells the story of Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman who was transformed into a vampire in the 18th century, and the people with whom his afterlife intersects. The first of twelve books in Rice's series, Interview with the Vampire, was adapted to screen by Neil Jordan in 1994 to much priase from fans and critics alike. The movie starred Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, and a young Kirsten Dunst. In 2002, a "so bad it's good" sequel based on The Queen of the Damned chapter of the series was unleashed to dismal reviews and mixed fan response. The musically-charged vampire romp starred Stuart Townsend as a young Lestat and Aaliyah as the vampire queen herself.

Will you be sinking your fangs into the newest incarnation of Rice's Vampire Chronicles knowing that Fuller is now involved? Let us know in the comments section below.
