Cam Gigandet as a doctor? I guess stranger things have happened in the movies, but this is one is pretty far-fetched.

The bland actor, who seems to play “the boyfriend” in every other movie he appears in, is set to join PLUSH, a psychological thriller helmed by Catherine Hardwicke – who directed Gigandet in his breakout film, TWILIGHT.

Cam will join Emily Browning in the flick, which is about a psychic psychologist who delves into the minds of patients and sees their memories in order to help them unleash past demons. He meets his match in Browning’s teen, who shares his gift.

Yes, so Gigandet is playing the psychologist. I’m sure the dude is nice and all, but he doesn’t exactly scream “I’m anywhere in the neighborhood of being a psychologist.”

Hardwicke is directing from a screenplay she co-wrote with Artie Nelson.
