Charlize Theron becomes an immortal warrior in trailer for The Old Guard

Charlize Theron is unleashing her inner immortal warrior in the trailer for Netflix's THE OLD GUARD.

Based on the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Illustrated by Leandro Fernandez, The Netflix official synopsis reads as follows:

"Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (KiKi Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary. Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (LOVE & BASKETBALL, BEYOND THE LIGHTS), THE OLD GUARD is a gritty, grounded, action-packed story that shows living forever is harder than it looks."

Charlize Theron becomes the latest high-profile star to headline her own film on Netflix. The streamer scored major success with Mark Wahlberg in SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL as well as Chris Hemsworth in EXTRACTION. There are even more projects for major talent coming down the pipeline with names like Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Blake Lively and Jessica Alba all joining the Netflix ranks, with some of them even eyeing potential franchises for their respective projects.

I'm always down to see Charlize Theron in action after her turns in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and ATOMIC BLONDE so I will definitely be checking this one out when it drops. The film also stars Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Van Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts, KiKi Layne, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
