Check out the first photo from Kevin Smith’s Red State

It appears that this picture of someone’s head is a first look at Kevin Smith’s RED STATE.

That noggin that you are looking at belongs to Michael Parks. You might remember Parks as Señor Esteban Vihaio from KILL BILL 2 ( I always remember him from that). He is taking on the lead role of Abin Cooper, a character that is somewhat based off Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church.

This is an interesting genre move for Smith who is now entering horrorland. Well, political horrorland. The film centers on, “A group of kids encounters a crazed preacher (based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church) who gives a whole new meaning to the term “extreme fundamentalism.” RED STATE also stars Kyle Gallner, John Goodman, Melissa Leo, Michael Angarano, Kevin Pollak, and Stephen Root.
