Word has reached the presses that legendary comedic actor Chris Rock in once again making plans to step behind the camera, as the TOP FIVE filmmaker is in negotiations to direct Kevin Hart in CO-PARENTING, an upcoming comedy for Universal Pictures.

Produced by GIRLS TRIP and NIGHT SCHOOL producer Will Packer, Deadline is reporting that CO-PARENTING will center on a stay at home dad who raises the kids while his star CEO wife serves as the breadwinner. The man finds himself in emotional and public turmoil when his wife kicks him to the curb, and they engage in a bitter divorce and custody battle. BLACK-ISH alumna Yamara Taylor wrote the script, which is based on an original idea cooked up by Rock and Hart. As per the deal, Packer will produce via his Will Packer Productions label, with Hart and his Hartbeat Productions partner John Cheng along for the ride as well. Chris Rock will also produce courtesy of Chris Rock Enterprises.

In addition to bringing his knack for comedy to CO-PARENTING, Hart is also expected to inject a bit of drama to the upcoming role as well. After all, when someone is gunning for custody of your children, things can get quite messy. The platform is said to be a prime opportunity for Hart to show audience members that he's capable of being much more than Dwayne Johnson's chew toy, or the little guy who always makes it a point to walk tall. Personally, I'm a big fan of Hart's, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can bring to this promising project.
