Losing a loved one can bring about a torrent of unwanted emotions, and so people often subscribe to the thought that misery loves company. But what happens when it turns out that the company you've chosen could potentially do more damage than good? In the upcoming Netflix series DEAD TO ME, two women discover a friendship unlike any they've ever had, though a dark secret will soon soon divide them, lest they can reconcile their differences on their way toward closure and forgiveness.

Dead to Me, Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini

Created and executive produced by 2 BROKE GIRLS and ELLEN writer Liz Feldman, DEAD TO ME stars Christina Applegate (MARRIED WITH CHILDREN, DON'T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER'S DEAD), Linda Cardellini (FREAKS AND GEEKS, GRANDMA'S BOY), James Marsden (HAIRSPRAY, ENCHANTED), Ed Asner (ELF, MARY TYLER MOORE) and Brandon Scott (CHANNEL ZERO, DARK/WEB). In addition to leading the series alonside Cardellini, Applegate will also executive produce alongside Adam McKay and Will Ferrell for Gloria Sanchez Productions.

I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of hyperventilating over here. Applegate and Cardellini are two of my biggest Hollywood crushes, and the thought of them delivering a crass and darkly-lit comedy together has me giddy. I'll definitely be tuning in for this one, as it looks like both ladies will be leaning hard into their shared knack for dry yet witty comedy.

Here's the official synopsis for DEAD TO ME:

Jen (Christina Applegate) is a sardonic widow determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder. Judy (Linda Cardellini) is an optimistic free spirit who’s recently suffered her own tragic loss. When the two women meet at a support group, they become unlikely friends despite their polar-opposite personalities. But as they bond over bottles of wine, Entenmann’s cookies and a shared affinity for The Facts of Life, Judy desperately tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it. Dead to Me, created by Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls, One Big Happy), is an addictive dark comedy that dives into the painfully unfiltered, weirdly funny waters of grief, loss and forgiveness.

DEAD TO ME will launch globally on Netflix Friday, May 3rd.
