Christopher Walken joins Jason Bateman’s The Family Fang adaptation

Jason Bateman's next project as a director will be an adaptation of the Kevin Wilson novel The Family Fang, and he's landed a fantastic actor for his upcoming film. Christopher Walken has joined THE FAMILY FANG, and will star alongside Nicole Kidman, who secured the rights to the book in 2012. Bateman will also appear in the adaptation.

Here's the book description from Amazon:

For outré performance artists, Caleb and Camille Fang, everything in life is secondary to art, including their children. Annie and Buster (popularly known as Child A. and Child B.) are the unwilling stars of their parents’ chaotically subversive work. Art is truly a family affair for the Fangs. Years later, their lives in disarray, Annie and Buster reluctantly return home in search of sanctuary—only to be caught up in one last performance. The Family Fang sparkles with Kevin Wilson’s inventive dialogue and wonderfully rendered set-pieces that capture the surreal charm of the Fang’s most notable work. With this brilliant novel, the family Fang is destined to join the families Tenenbaum and Bluth as paragons of high dysfunction.

Christopher Walken will star as Caleb Fang, and Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman will play his children Annie and Buster. Bateman still needs to find someone to play Camille Fang, but with production on THE FAMILY FANG set to start in July, I'm sure an actress will be announced soon.

Jason Bateman's BAD WORDS was hilarious in my opinion, and I'm definitely excited to check out his second directorial effort. Reviews for Kevin Wilson's novel have been very solid (with one person describing it as "The Royal Tenenbaums meets Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?") and Bateman, Kidman and Walken should do an excellent job in the adaptation. Who doesn't want to see Christopher Walken as a quirky performance artist? I mean, I'd watch Christopher Walken in just about anything, but THE FAMILY FANG sounds like it could be something special.
