A year ago, it was announced that actor Armie Hammer would be making his return to leading roles in an action thriller from director Uwe Boll, one of independent cinema’s most provocative filmmakers. At the time, the project was going by the title The Dark Knight, but it has since been retitled Citizen Vigilante, for obvious reasons. Quiver Distribution will be releasing the film on major digital and streaming platforms across North America on June 19th – and with that date swiftly approaching, we’re proud to share an EXCLUSIVE first look at the trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.

What is Citizen Vigilante about?

Here’s a short logline: A man takes justice into his own hands, hunting down criminals. His vigilante crusade makes him a social media star but puts him at odds with the law.

And a bit more information: The film centers on a wealthy American businessman living in Europe who transforms into a notorious vigilante targeting violent criminals and corrupt officials, ultimately becoming both a hunted fugitive and an unlikely media phenomenon.

Produced by Event Film in association with Borvel Film, the film marks the latest high-intensity feature from internationally recognized filmmaker Uwe Boll, whose films are known for combining large-scale action, gritty realism and emotionally charged stories that tap into contemporary conversation.

Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) plays the vigilante character, Sanders, and is joined in the cast by Costas Mandylor of the Saw franchise. Mandylor plays Interpol officer Henry, who is given the task of bringing Sanders down.

Boll has said that the film is a “very dark and violent movie” which features “rapes and knife attacks” as it examines the “landscape in Europe.“ Counting Citizen Vigilante, Boll has 40 directing credits to his name. His previous projects include Alone in the DarkHouse of the DeadPostalIn the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Story, BloodRayne, Blubberella, Far Cry, Rampage, and Assault on Wall Street.
