Comic Con: Interview with Guillermo del Toro & Jorge Gutierrez -Book of Life

Last Updated on February 6, 2026

One of the best things about working at JoBlo.com over the years has been getting to talk to the genius that is Guillermo del Toro. The filmmaker is one of the most creative and charismatic guys working in Hollywood and I always tend to get excited whenever he is involved in a project. This is especially true with the upcoming BOOK OF LIFE, an animated feature he is producing, which is directed by the very talented Jorge R. Gutierrez. Recently during our Comic Con coverage, we sat down with the two to chat about their latest. We talked about the musical inspirations as well as how their collaboration began. You’ll be able to catch BOOK OF LIFE opening on October 17th and it sure looks to be a Halloween treat.
