The franchise director George A. Romero and writer Stephen King started with the 1982 classic Creepshow sat dormant for a long time after the 1987 release of Creepshow 2. There was a sequel we don’t talk about in 2006, but recently the property was successfully revived with a Shudder TV series, which ran for four seasons and has brought about new Creepshow books and comics – and a video game. Announced almost four years ago, the Creepshow video game is now almost ready to make its way out into the world. An announcement trailer has been unveiled (you can watch it in the embed above) and a Steam page has gone live with the promise that the game will be available to play as of August 2026.

What will the Creepshow video game be like?

Coming our way from DreadXP, DarkStone Digital, and production company Cartel Entertainment, the game will follow the anthology format and feature several self-contained horror stories across different types of gameplay genres and tones.

Here’s the description: In the mood for a story? The Creep has picked these out just for you… Creepshow is a collection of twisted, self-contained tales where the humor is dark, and the endings are… not what you expected. Each story drops you into a nightmare with new characters, new horrors, and a fate that you won’t see coming.

Follow Danny and his friends as a bad day at the mall turns into something much, much worse. Their search for the truth of what happened to Danny’s father turns dark as they uncover sinister secrets. Fate brings Danny to The Reader, a mysterious fortune-teller, who has a taste for treacherous tales. Expect pulp-inspired visuals, a tone that plays up the camp without losing its wit, and endings that hit hard. The horror here isn’t just trying to scare you… It’s about enjoying the whole thing a little too much.

This game contains disturbing imagery, moments of mental anguish, strong language and animal violence / death.
