Crispin Glover’s Smiley Face Killers look revealed in FX artist’s pictures

Last week we shared a very intriguing trailer for the upcoming thriller SMILEY FACE KILLERS, which was written by AMERICAN PSYCHO's Bret Easton Ellis and reunites RIVER'S EDGE director Tim Hunter with actor Crispin Glover. Judging by the trailer, Glover's character leads a group of murderers in the film – and while we get a glimpse of his creepy visage in the trailer, special effects artist Vincent Guastini has given us a much better look at the transformation Glover underwent to play this role.

Guastini posted behind-the-scenes images of Glover on his social media accounts, and described what was done to alter the actor's appearance. He also included a couple pieces of concept art for makeup designs that were rejected by Glover. Guastini's work looks incredible, and makes me very excited to see Glover's character in action when SMILEY FACE KILLERS gets a DVD, Blu-ray, Digital, and On Demand release on December 8th.

Crispin Glover's @crispinhellionglover look in the new horror Thiller Smiley Face Killers @smileyfacekillersfilm A movie being released in December directed by Tim Hunter ( River's Edge Breaking Bad) produced and written by Brett Easton Ellis @bretteastonellis writer of American Psycho. All makeup and effects by V.G.P. Effects and Design Studio. Crispen wanted to go old school with the makeup he had one eye taped back and hooks attached to his face and lower lip. Was quite a challenge had 4 days to come up with this look 4 days before shooting including late nite makeup tests What you see here are subltle prosthetics that covered the aperateus that we life casted him in. From there Jeff Farley sculpted the appliances. Makeup designed by me and Mr. Glover. Makeup application and assistance by Julie Hapney who later took on a great deal of the application duties. Before we went to set Crispen added that he wanted to be bald as well. So we added that late in the game for his reveal with a Bald cap prosthetic. #vincentguastiniproductions #vgpeffects #makeupartistsworldwide #makeup #practialeffects #practicaleffects #speacialeffectsmakeup #hollywood #horrormovies #prosthetics #crispenglover #makeupeffects #makeup design #characters #character makeup #spfx #behindthescenes???? #production #onset???????? #movielife #makeupapplication #bretteastonellis

More pics of the breakdown of the makeup and Lon Chaney type torture he endured with my rig. Hook tip was filed down and coated with steel epoxy and then sanded smooth with a layer of hot glue over that so the hook would not puncture or rip his lip out. Elastic straps and medical tape tied off and taped down. Came up with this at 2am after talking with him in my studio at 12 am by 2am we were doing the life cast. From the Upcoming Smiley Face Killers @smileyfacekillersfilm and some possible looks and designs that Crispen rejected. Awsome looks and designs by Josh P. Crockett. Crispen wanted no sculptural look at all. Crispin Glover's @crispinhellionglover look in the new horror Thiller Smiley Face.
