Cruel Intentions reboot to bring on the sexy at IMDB TV

Cruel Intentions TV reboot

Everyone, please try to keep your hormones in check because IMDB TV, Amazon’s premium free streaming service, is developing a Cruel Intentions reboot. Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman will write the script, with Sony Pictures, Amazon Studios, and Original Film all a part of the project.

According to Deadline, the new series version of the story is tied to the novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos and focuses on two ruthless step-siblings who will do anything to stay on top. In this case, of the Greek life hierarchy at an elite Washington, D.C. college. After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system, they’ll do whatever’s necessary to preserve their power and reputations – even seduce the daughter of the Vice President of the United States.

Fisher will pen the pilot episode with Goodman acting as supervisor. Should the pilot be picked up for a series, both scribes will write the show together.

Directed by Roger Kumble, the original Cruel Intentions starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe, and Selma Blair. It tells the story of two vicious step-siblings of an elite Manhattan prep school who make a wager: to deflower the new headmaster’s daughter before the start of term. Considered a cult classic by some, Cruel Intentions was the type of movie teens would watch after their parents had gone to sleep for the night. It’s steamy, scandalous, and was responsible for more than a few sexual awakenings at the time of its release.

This is not the first time that Original Film and Sony TV have tried making a Cruel Intentions reboot. Previously, both studios joined forces for a sequel TV series led by Gellar reprising her role. The project got a pilot at NBC but never moved forward.

Who do you think should be cast in the Cruel Intentions reboot series? Who is hot enough in the public eye to be worthy of such saucy roles? Let us see your suggestions in the comments section below.
