A couple of weeks ago, we let you know that an adaptation of the famed Danish mystery-thriller THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES was in the works. The project is evidently moving along quickly, as today brings the news that an actor has been cast in the lead role.

Danish thesp Nikolaj Lie Kaas has won the role of police detective “Carl Morck” in KEEPER, which is being helmed by Mikkel Norgaard (KLOWN). The flick is the first in a proposed four-film series, all based on the “Department Q” bestsellers by author Jussi Adler-Olsen.

The story focuses on two cops who become obsessed with a five-year old case involving a missing woman. Their investigations lead them on a pan-Scandinavian search for a psycho killer.

Kaas is apparently a box office star in his homeland, but is lesser known here in the states. However, he’s appeared in the Hollywood flicks ANGELS & DEMONS alongside Tom Hanks and THE WHISTLEBLOWER with Rachel Weisz (pictured below).

THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES begins shooting this fall.
