Detective Knight: Rogue – Did Bruce Willis make a trilogy no one knew about before retiring?

The trailer for the new Bruce Willis action vehicle titled Detective Knight: Rogue has been released by Lionsgate. This film looks to be yet another lower-budgeted direct-to-video release for the action star, except this one might be part of an already shot trilogy? In it, Willis plays a Los Angeles cop that sees an uptick in bank robberies in the city from an elite group of thieves.

The synopsis on the IMDB is what suggests the movie may be the first instalment of a trilogy:

Bruce Willis stars as veteran Detective James Knight, dedicated to navigating the demanding streets of Los Angeles, in this thrilling first of a trilogy of films. As the city prepares for Halloween, mask-wearing armed robbers critically wound Knight’s partner in a shootout following a heist. With Knight in hot pursuit, the bandits flee L.A. for New York, where the detective’s dark past collides with his present case and threatens to tear his world apart… unless redemption can claim Knight first.

The film also stars Lochlyn Munro, Michael Eklund, Corey Large (who also co-wrote), Keeya King, and Jimmy Jean-Louis. The movie comes from director and co-writer Edward Drake. Drake had previously worked with Willis in 2021’s Cosmic Sin. Digging a little deeper into the idea that this might be part of a trilogy, we found an article from Hollywood North Buzz, published last year, that announced two more movies, Christmas Knight and Devil’s Knight, would be shot in November and December 2021. No news on whether the trilogy was completed. So far only Detective Knight: Rogue has an IMDB page.

Earlier this year, Bruce Willis announced that he would be retiring after being diagnosed with an awful illness called aphasia. However, many Willis DTV flicks are completed and waiting for release, including one called Paradise City, which re-teams him with former Pulp Fiction co-star John Travolta. No news yet on when that movie will come out, but it’s generally being seen as the star’s last hurrah.

Detective Knight: Rogue will be released on October 21st.
