Don Johnson in advanced talks for Rian Johnson’s Knives Out murder mystery

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Ah ha! So it was Don Johnson in the Billiard room with the knife! I freakin' knew it!

It's being reported by Deadline that MIAMI VICE alum Don Johnson is quite close to signing on the dotted line for Rian Johnson's upcoming murder mystery film KNIVES OUT. Framed as a whodunit spectacle, little is known about Johnson's next cinematic endeavor, other than that Daniel Craig (CASINO ROYALE, SKYFALL), Chris Evans (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, THE LOSERS), Michael Shannon (MAN OF STEEL, THE SHAPE OF WATER), Lakeith Stanfield (SELMA, DEATH NOTE) and Ana De Armas (BLADE RUNNER 2049, WAR DOGS) have each signed on to star.

Production on the crime drama is scheduled to begin next month with Media Rights Capital having snagged the global rights in a TIFF auction faster than you can say "It was Chris Evans, in the Library, with the Candle Stick." The upcoming crime drama will be Rian's first theatrical bow since the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, a film that received an unprecedented amount of internet ire from both fans and haters alike.

For the moment, Don Johnson is in the midst of filming WATCHMEN for Damon Lindelof's HBO reboot of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons cult classic comic book series. Once his contribution to the highly-anticipated series is complete, Johnson's sights will square sharply upon KNIVES OUT.
