Just a few days ago, we got a look at Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, and Josh Gad in a RIGHT STUFF pose getting ready to defend humanity from an 8-bit alien invasion. Now, Sony has unveiled just who they will be facing in Chris Columbus' PIXELS.
First off, here is the plot synopsis for the feature length action comedy based on Patrick Jean's short film of the same name:
In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Monaghan plays the team's unique weapons specialist.
Sony will be showcasing a number of classic games at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con and released the following list of game companies and titles that will be in PIXELS. See how many of these ring a bell.

Yeah, that is basically a who’s who of 1980s video games, some even older. While this could go the route of any number of Adam Sandler shitfests in recent years, Chris Columbus is the most solid director Sandler has worked with in a long time and definitely has experience with the special effects needed to make this film work. Hopefully they pay as much attention to getting the rights to these characters as they do to making a quality script.
PIXELS is slated to hit theaters on May 15, 2015.
