James “Murr” Murray, best known as one of the stars of Impractical Jokers, is one of the creative forces behind the giant spider horror movie Don’t Move, which is coming to Blu-ray and DVD this December. Based on the bestselling novel Murray co-wrote with Darren Wearmouth, the horror thriller blends creature feature scares with comedy as a church camping trip turns into a fight for survival against a prehistoric arachnid.

Don’t Move arrives on Blu-ray and DVD December 15, 2026, from Well Go USA Entertainment. The movie is available on digital now.

Murray co-wrote the original 2020 novel with Wearmouth and helped bring the story to the screen with director Maclain Nelson (Dudes & Dragons). The cast includes Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass, Nikita), rapper Russ Vitale (Trap), Hunter King (The Young and the Restless), Joseph Lee Anderson (Divorce in the Black), Tom Cavanagh (The Flash), and Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street, The Hangover).

Impractical Jokers’ Murr Turns His Horror Novel Into a Giant Spider Movie

For Murray, Don’t Move represents the realization of a longtime ambition: turning his books into movies and television projects. The story began as a novel he co-wrote with Wearmouth, but it was director Nelson who immediately recognized its potential as a creature feature. In an interview with Variety, Murray explained that adapting his books for the screen had always been part of his plan. Nelson, a longtime friend and creative collaborator, read Don’t Move in one sitting and saw an opportunity to combine monster movie thrills with a story about a community forced to work together.

Nelson compared the experience to watching Tremors, the beloved creature feature that balances deadly underground monsters with memorable characters and humor. That influence also informed the filmmaking approach, according to cinematographer Kristoffer Carrillo in an interview with SYFY Wire. Carrillo described Don’t Move as a throwback to the creature features and horror comedies of the 1990s.

What Is Don’t Move About?

In Don’t Move, a church group’s annual retreat takes a horrifying turn when its members wander into the wrong part of the Ozark wilderness. Deep in the forest, a prehistoric arachnid begins hunting them, using vibrations to detect potential prey. Suspicion initially falls on Ricky (Russ Vitale), the group’s troublemaker. But the campers soon discover that their real problem is a gigantic spider lurking in a web-filled cave. As the creature picks off its victims, Megan (Lyndsy Fonseca) must try to keep the survivors together and find a way out alive.

Nelson directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Murray and Wearmouth.

When Can You Watch Don’t Move?

Don’t Move is available on digital now and arrives on Blu-ray and DVD December 15, 2026, from Well Go USA Entertainment.

The film runs approximately 94 minutes and is rated R for bloody images, some violent content, and language.

For Impractical Jokers fans, the release offers a chance to see Murr pursue a very different kind of entertainment project. For horror fans, it promises a giant prehistoric spider and a group of desperate campers, which sounds like the makings of a great time to me.
