Ex. Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry & Gabriel Bateman talk Child’s Play!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

On the first day of summer, many movie fans may be looking for a cool playdate. Now if you’ve always wanted a scary doll that has the ability to send you to the morgue, you’re perhaps ready for the return of Chucky. Yes folks, the doll with a killer attitude is back, but this time in a very different way. This modern version of CHILD’S PLAY, directed by Lars Klevberg and written by Tyler Burton Smith, takes the original story and gives this murderous toy a technological update. Add Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky, and an impressive cast including Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry, and you have the return of this popular horror icon. If you are hoping for a bloody, high tech take on the original story by Don Mancini, that’s pretty much what you’ll get here.

We recently sat down with the cast of CHILD’S PLAY. First up we spoke with the amazing Brian Tyree Henry. Having spoken with the actor previously, it was fun to see his excitement about taking on Chucky. He discussed his own history with the original film, and getting to offer a different take on the detective character. As for Aubrey Plaza and Gabriel Bateman, I was especially curious about the lovely Ms. Plaza taking on a straight up horror film. As well, the two discussed having killer dolls of their own, and yes, the conversation gets a bit strange (and a little fun).

Chucky is back slashing his way into theatres. Are you ready for the return of CHILD’S PLAY?
