Doing the junket for Paul Thomas Anderson's latest INHERENT VICE was an incredibly fun experience. This is a great and exciting cast of familiar and fresh faces. For both Sasha Pieterse and Hong Chau, working with the acclaimed director was an incredible experience. When I sat down with the two of them, they discussed Anderson's approach and how he did not treat the supporting characters as small. Both of these fine actresses were wonderfully nice and very excited about their involvement in the film.
While I've had the pleasure of chatting with the extremely talented Jena Malone before, it was even more fun to chat with her, as well as her co-star Joanna Newsom about this flick. The two talked about the changes made in the film, notably giving Newsom's character the narrative voice. The energy all four talents had regarding this project was even more infectious than watching the film itself. Sure to be a divisive feature, INHERENT VICE is an irreverent detective story with an fantastic cast. You can check it out this Thursday in limited release, with a wide release scheduled for January 9, 2015.
