Guillermo del Toro is one of the most exciting names in cinema today. And yes, we here at JoBlo.com simply love the guy. From his early horror work like MIMIC and THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE to the exquisitely brilliant PAN’S LABYRINTH he continues to amaze. The director recently put his creative mind to work with the exciting and fun new flick PACIFIC RIM that is a modern day Godzilla movie which also happens to be a stunning visual feast that towers above anything we’ve seen this year when it comes to the massive effects.

When I sat down with the director we discussed not only the creation of the monsters and robots but the challenge of choreographing a massive fight between the two. As a fan of the filmmaker, I have to say that I am an even bigger fan of the man himself. He is one of the most charming and delightful guys around, needless to say he also happens to be a creative genius. Yep, mad respect goes out to this guy and it is always an incredible pleasure to chat with him. PACIFIC RIM opens this Friday, July 12th and I strongly suggest you go see it!
