Over the past few years, James McAvoy has chosen a number of interesting roles. Of course, with his work in THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, WANTED, THE LAST STATION and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, he has had the opportunity to shift from big budget to critical acclaim with ease. In his latest feature, he takes on a leading role in Danny Boyle’s return to psychological thriller territory in TRANCE, and McAvoy is a perfect fit.

I had the opportunity to speak with the actor over a video link – he was in London where he can be seen in the stage version of “Macbeth” – we spoke about his latest. When I had asked him about something that was in the press notes for this particular audition process, he gave me unexpected answer. Yes, press notes aren’t always accurate. We also chatted about working with Boyle and the unique way the director creates his vision. I’m a fan of Mr. McAvoy and he gives a terrific performance in TRANCE which opens this Friday in limited release.
