This past Monday was the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi/crime/action/satire classic ROBOCOP, and to mark the occasion the makers of the upcoming documentary ROBODOC: THE CREATION OF ROBOCOP have released an extended trailer online.

Coming to us from Dead Mouse Productions Ltd and Cult Screenings UK Ltd, the folks behind the documentaries LEVIATHAN: THE STORY OF HELLRAISER AND HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II and YOU'RE SO COOL, BREWSTER! THE STORY OF FRIGHT NIGHT, ROBODOC is

a fully independent retrospective into the making of 'RoboCop' and its cultural impact over the last 30 years. Supported by dozens of the original cast and crew, 'RoboDoc' is made by fans of the movie for fans of the movie.

Directed by Chris Griffiths, ROBODOC also goes beyond the first film to take a look at the making of ROBOCOP 2 and ROBOCOP 3. It appears to feature interviews with almost everyone you'd want to hear from regarding these films, over 90 interviews were conducted, but there is one notable exception: the original RoboCop himself, Peter Weller. Weller declined to participate in the making of the documentary.

Even without Weller, it looks like ROBODOC is going to be an awesome must-have for fans of the ROBOCOP franchise.
