Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon was once attached to direct Scream 7 – but that project turned out to be so troubled, he had to activate his ejector seat and get out of there. While Kevin Williamson joined Scream 7 and pushed it through production, Landon has been busy lining up other genre projects, signing on to direct the “fast-paced thriller” Drop (which reached theatres last April), the werewolf thriller Big Bad, the Netflix thriller Blink of an Eye, and now, as reported by Deadline, a supernatural horror project called Final Boarding. Not to be confused with Final Destination.

Final Boarding

Final Boarding is set up at Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems and is based on the short story by Clarence Hammond. Details are being kept under wraps, but Deadline was able to find out that Landon will be writing and directing this one, working from both the short story and a previous script adaptation by Javier Gullón.

Hammond is producing the film. Screen Gems President Ashley Brucks optioned the story from Hammond, who she worked alongside at Paramount Players.

Landon

Landon brings a lot of genre cred to the project. In addition to directing Drop, Freaky, and Happy Death Day, he has also directed the comedy thriller Burning Palms, Paranormal Activity: The Marked One, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Happy Death Day 2U, and We Have a Ghost. As a screenwriter, his credits include Paranormal Activity 2, Paranormal Activity 3, Paranormal Activity 4, Viral, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, Heart Eyes, and most of the movies he has directed.

Plus, he has produced My Best Friend’s Exorcism and Time Cut (in addition to several of the movies mentioned above).

I’m not into the Paranormal Activity stuff, but I have enjoyed most of the other movies Landon has been involved with. I was excited to see what he was going to do with Scream 7, but that didn’t work out, so now I’m looking forward to Big Bad, Blink of an Eye, and Final Boarding.
