The Comic Con Experience in Brazil this weekend has been full of goodies, with panels, surprise drops and exclusive footage. On Saturday came the first trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Gen V, a spin-off of the wildly successful superhero series The Boys.

The trailer, which can be seen above, introduces a number of key figures and locations in Gen V, in addition to spotlighting what will surely be a draw for The Boys fans: a finely tuned mixture of laughs, action and blood.

Production on Gen V officially wrapped in September so it was only a matter of time until fans got footage. Based on the trailer, they won’t be disappointed in the upcoming series. The cast includes franchise newcomers Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Chance Perdomo, Maddie Phillips, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Sean Patrick Thomas.

Gen V is “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games—with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”

Gen V isn’t the only The Boys spin-off out there. Earlier this year, the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical hit Amazon Prime Video and also garnered strong reviews. The Boys itself has been one of Amazon’s biggest hits, even earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, the first Prime Video show to do so. The Boys was renewed for a fourth season over the summer. Although no release date has been set, fans would hope it arrives next year.

Gen V comes to Amazon Prime Video in 2023.

What do you think of the first trailer for Gen V? Does it seem like a worthwhile spin-off of The Boys?
