Freddy’s Dead director back with new Netflix monster movie!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Rachel Talalay (see above with Robert Englund) is best known around these parts for directing the sixth entry in the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE. And today we have word that the filmmaker will be back in the game soon as Netflix has just hired her to helm their upcoming adaptation of Joe Ballarini's children’s family-friendly book series A Babysitter’s Guide To Monsters.

The three-book series is about

An apathetic babysitter who doesn’t like kids very much and is horrified to discover that the child she is sitting for has been stolen by monsters. It’s her responsibility along, with a secret society of baby sitters who do battle against the creatures of the night, to save the child and the world from things that go bump in the night.

Other than the above-mentioned FREDDY'S DEAD, Talalay's other credits include TANK GIRL and GHOST IN THE MACHINE along with episodes of TV shows such as American Gods, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Riverdale. I don't know about you but I'm happy as hell to hear that Rachel Talalay is coming back behind the camera! As you can see from her many TV credits included above, she hasn't REALLY been gone, but it's great to see her return to feature films. Bring it on, I say!

As far as Netflix's adaptation of A Babysitter’s Guide To Monsters goes, author Joe Ballarini is currently writing the script based on his books with Ivan Reitman and Amie Karp producing along with Naia Cucukov of Walden Media, Tom Pollock, and Ilona Herzberg executive producing. Check out the cover art for the first book in the series below and then let us known how excited YOU are to see a new film by Rachel Talalay.
