Severin Films entered an agreement with Intervision Picture Corporation to handle all of the company’s future production and marketing. Among those releases is SLEDGEHAMMER, which is making its DVD debut on May 10. Check out the cover art below.

SLEDGEHAMEMR was released in 1983. It is written and directed by David A. Prior and stars Ted Prior. The flick is known for being one of, if not the first slasher to be shot on video. However, it has never been available on DVD.

The disc will include the followign special features: commentary with Prior, commentary with Bleeding Skull creators Joseph A. Ziemba And Dan Budnik, Hammertime featurette with author Zack Carlson, Sledgehammer Land featurette with Cinefamily programmers Hadrian Belove and Tom Fitzgerald, and an interview with Prior.

The plot is familiar: A group of friends comes to party at a backwoods house where a legacy of brutality awaits. But within this minimalist ’80s mélange of food fights, feathered hair and abusive slow-motion lurks a relentless synth score, bizarre sexual subtexts and a disturbing shape-shifting behemoth killer. The result is 85 minutes of fever-dream depravity, now loaded with brand-new Bonus Features that put it all in skull-shattering perspective.
