Gen V: Production for The Boys spinoff series has officially wrapped

Generation V, production, The Boys, Amazon

Mop up the blood and bring your costume to the dry cleaner because Prime Video announced that The Boys spinoffGen V, has officially wrapped production. The upcoming project focuses on the next generation of super-powered individuals and all the drama that comes with the territory. We’ve already seen how unruly, dangerous, and megalomaniacal adults with superpowers can be; now, we’re adding hormones, relationship angst, and inexperience to the mix.

Gen V hails from showrunners Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas and takes place “in America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (or supes) that is run by Vought International.” It will explore the lives of “hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games—with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”

Prime Video celebrated Gen V’s production wrap with a gallery of photos from the set. In the images, members of the cast celebrate the final day of filming with several fun photos. Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Lizzie Broadway, Chance Perdomo, London Thor, Asa Germann, Maddie, and Derek Luh.

Amazon struck hit paydirt when The Boys debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. In addition to the core show, there’s also The Boys Presents: Diabolical, featuring a series of animated shorts set in The Boys universe. If Gen V takes off in a big way, and I suspect it will, The Boys franchise could stick around for the foreseeable future. While Amazon has found success with a handful of other original projects, The Boys immediately exploded in popularity and has been a significant money-maker ever since. As long as The Boys doesn’t lose sight of why fans love it so much or wear out its welcome by overestimating its reach, fans of violent superhero deconstruction will eat well for years to come.
