Halloween (1978) vs Friday the 13th (1980) – Face Off

They’re two of the most infamous, championed, and bloodiest American slasher movies of their era. Not only that, but they’re also the most franchisable, with a total of 25(!) entries, including originals, sequels, reboots, and remakes between the two of them. That’s, like, a lot of hacked-up horny teenagers.

The original 1978 Halloween from John Carpenter along with the initial Friday the 13th film have stood the test of time as bonafide slashers that are essential to any Halloween horror marathon. The films are complete with two iconic villains in the form of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees (kind of), a house full of kills, and unsettling music that’ll make your spine tingle — or channel the world’s most spiteful mother.

But only one of these films will make it out alive! So let’s go trick or treating in Haddonfield and take a dip at Camp Crystal Lake because it’s time for… FACE OFF!

This episode of Face Off is written by Mathew Plale, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by Brandon Nally. But don’t let us have the final word — tell us in the comments which classic slasher flick is your pick? Are you on Team Voorhees and the Crystal Lake counselors or Team Myers and the Haddonfield babysitters?
