Happy Endings cast reuniting for pandemic-themed charity special

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It's the reunion that Happy Endings fans have been waiting for! It has been announced that the cast will be reuniting for a new scripted showcase from the writers of Happy Endings entitled “And The Pandemmy Goes To…” Following the event will be a special live fan Q&A with the cast. The event will premiere on the Sony Pictures Television YouTube page on Monday, July 20 at 4:00 PM PT.

Returning for the reunion includes cast members Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans Jr., Casey Wilson, and a surprise guest. The special, organized by Happy Endings studio SPT, aims to raise money for Color of Change and José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen supporting Black Lives Matter and COVID-19 relief efforts. Happy Endings creator David Caspe had this to say about the reunion:

"For years, the people (and multiple networks) have spoken: they do not want this show to continue. Undeterred, we were finally able to convince them to at least let us do just one weird Zoom thing, as long as we did it ourselves and it was for charity. So if you wanna watch, please donate to Color of Change and World Central Kitchen, two incredible organizations fighting to make the world a safer, more equitable, just place for all."

Happy Endings originally ran on ABC for three seasons from 2011-2013. The show became a big fan-favorite but erratic scheduling during its third season caused a huge ratings decline which ultimately resulted in its cancellation. The pop-culture website "Vulture" called the cancellation one of the "worst TV decisions of the 2012-3 television season. Since the show ended its run, there have been talks of a revival and those talks have only heated up since the announcement of this Zoom charity special.
