Even though the video game adapted HITMAN was thrashed by critics and didn’t exactly blow up at the box office, it made decent enough bank that Fox has apparently decided it merits a sequel. The IESB reported a couple of days ago, with Variety confirming today, that Fox has hired hot young scribe Kyle Ward to pen the sequel. Ward got the job after adapting the video game “Kane and Lynch” for Lionsgate, a film which already has Bruce Willis attached to star and Simon Crane to direct. In the HITMAN sequel, the titular Agent 47 “must build himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world’s most feared assassin.” Umm, riiight. The story is apparently based on the upcoming “Hitman 5” video game. No word on whether Timothy Olyphant will be back to reprise his role as Agent 47 but it’s possible.
