AITH Horror Videos of the Week: Halloween, Freddy’s Dead, Wan and Whannell

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Halloween weekend is upon us, and we're getting it started the same way we start every weekend here on Arrow in the Head, by gathering all of the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!

This week we dedicated a video to unraveling the HALLOWEEN franchise timelines, took a look back at FREDDY'S DEAD with an episode of THE F*CKING BLACK SHEEP, dug into the collaborations of James Wan and Leigh Whannell for DEADLY DUOS, and spoke with Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer about their unmade film HALLOWEEN 3D for THE HORROR MOVIE THAT ALMOST WAS. All of these videos can be seen below.

HALLOWEEN FRANCHISE – Timelines Explored – (1978/2018)

In 1978 John Carpenter and Debra Hill changed the horror landscape with HALLOWEEN, and it's silent killer, Michael Myers. After forty-two years and eleven entries later, the HALLOWEEN franchise has become… complicated.

With HALLOWEEN doing the soft-reboot thing before it was ever popular, this franchise ends up with five distinct timelines with some sequels counting; others disregarded, a standalone, a remake, and much more. To make sense of this jumbled mess, we made a fun, snarky, and helpful video to guide you through each of the five timelines. So grab yourself your favorite cocktail, beer, or wine and sit back and enjoy.

FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE – The Black Sheep

Director Rachel Talalay's FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE has gathered more than its fair share of haters over the years, but we offer a different perspective in our latest episode of The Black Sheep. Have we been too hard on this flick? Claw the embed and hear our case!

FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE synopsis: Murderous ghoul Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) has slaughtered every last child in his hometown. He ventures on to a new location, scouting fresh young victims to hack up with his finger blades. He arrives in a small town in which his long-lost daughter, Maggie (Lisa Zane), works as a therapist for troubled youths. He attempts to recruit her for his dastardly pursuits, but she has other ideas. Father and daughter meet for a bloody showdown that will determine Freddy's fate once and for all.

JAMES WAN + LEIGH WHANNELL – Deadly Duos

Murderous traps, possessed dummies, haunted children, and… Kevin Bacon?!? Yup! All this and more, as we dive into the works of writer-director team, Leigh Whannell and James Wan, for this weeks episode of Deadly Duos!

Deadly Duos is Arrow in the Head’s series dedicated to featuring the iconic pairings of filmmakers who have worked together multiple times in horror films. Actors and directors, producers and composers, no matter the role or the era, every episode is a journey through the most beloved and classic (as well as obscure and forgotten) pairings that have made for the most memorable films in horror history.

HALLOWEEN 3D, Special Guests Patrick Lussier & Todd Farmer – The Horror Movie That Almost Was

Happy Halloween party people! And what better way to celebrate than some The Shape loving!

In our latest episode of "The Horror Movie That Almost Was", we take a look at what Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Drive Angry) had up their sleeves in "Halloween 3D." Would it have been a continuation of the Rob Zombie films? Would it have been another sequel in the original canon? Well we've more than got the answers here because we talked to both Farmer and Lussier about their time developing this would-be film. You don't want to miss this!

Series M.O.: In our new series THE HORROR MOVIE THAT ALMOST WAS we take a look at horror films that went deep into development, pre-production or actual production, to then nose dive and crash & burn. What happened? What went wrong? Did we miss out on some hidden gems, or did we dodge messy bullets? Let's find out!
