Bong Joon-ho and Harvey Weinstein reach truce on Snowpiercer

In the time that The Weinstein's and Bong Joon-ho spent squabbling over the SNOWPIERCER cut over the past several months the film could've already been released and found an audience, but it seems that the disagreement is finally over as Deadline is reporting that a truce has been called on the whole fiasco. So have the fans been heard on this one? Read on to learn.

You may remember that Harvey Weinstein bought U.S. rights on the movie back in 2012 AFM on the basis of script and some sample footage. A wide release was in the contract, until the director turned in a cut of just beyond two and one-half hours. Then back in August of last year we learned that Weinstein wanted at least 20 minutes cut from the film, which began a months-long battle over which version would finally be released to U.S. audiences. Now we know what cut of the film we'll finally be seeing.

The truce is basically that the director keeps the length of his action film but instead of a wide release, it will be a platform release with a roll out. What this could mean is that while most of us may not get to see it in a theater nearby, at least we’ll be able to nab it on VOD presumably day and date. We'll keep you updated with release news as we hear it.

Based on the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," SNOWPIERCER is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.

SNOWPIERCER stars Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Brewmner, Alison Pill, John Hurt and Ed Harris.

So hit us with your thoughts! Are you happy that we'll finally be seeing the film that Bong Joon-ho intended us to see?
