HBO gives “True Blood” season 5 a premiere date this June

Only a day after being teased, we now know when we’ll get the whole shebang…

After keeping us in the dark for months now, HBO has set Season 5 of “True Blood” to air on HBO June 10th, at 9:00 PM EST. It’ll run before Aaron Sorkin’s new drama “Newsroom.”

Whether or not the 12 episodes of Season 5 will be the last of the entire series, we do know showrunner Alan Ball is departing to work on his Showtime series “Banshee” as soon as possible.

Here’s what the new angle focuses on:

Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Nelsan Ellis, Alexander Skarsgard and Deborah Ann Woll (below) will all be returning to ‘Bon Temps’ this Summer along with newbies Camilla Luddington, Jacob Hopkins, Carolyn Hennesy, Christopher Meloni, Peter Mensah, Christopher Heyerdahl, Scott Foley, Lucy Griffiths, Dale Dickey, Louis Herthum, Valentina Cervi and Kelly Overton.
