Paul Dano joins Jackman & Gyllenhaal in gritty kidnap thriller Prisoners

At first blush, Alcon’s sentenced PRISONERS may not sound AITH worthy. Not the case though, for at the heart of the story is a gritty kidnap thriller. Add Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal…it’s an A-list one that at. Not buying it? Here comes another key piece of casting for director Denis Villeneuve.

THR has it that Paul Dano (seen right) is in talks to join fellow PRISONERS Jackman and Gyllenhaal. Well, not exactly. Word is Dano will play a neighbor who has the mental capacity of a 10-year old and has a very sweet disposition, but may hide the personality of a killer.

A little different for Dano ay, I like it.

As for the rest of the flick, it centers on a small-town carpenter (Jackman) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, his character takes the law into his own hands, kidnapping the man he suspects is responsible. But as his friend and daughter’s captivity continues, the carpenter begins to have doubts that he has the right man.

Atlanta production on PRISONERS is slated for January.
