Silent Hill: Revelation director gives an update on the film and debunks release rumors

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Things have been pretty quiet on the SILENT HILL: REVELATION front for quite some time. Well director Michael J. Bassett via comments on his Blog has said a few things about the state of the film, and debunks the European release date rumors.

A fan asked whether or not it would be getting a release in Belgium and the Netherlands as rumor suggested and he replied there was no confirmation.

So that’s one thing, and in response to the fans asking about the film, he replied with the following statement: “Oh yes, I have lots of pictures, interviews, trailers, even a finished movie 🙂 … But the people who have invested their money in making this film have chosen, rightly or wrongly, to hold back the release of anything until they have a release schedule for the film they’re happy with. It is their choice and even as it’s frustrating as hell for me, I respect that this is how they wish to play it.”

Sounds like a pretty big shame to me, I tend to trust the director on their judgments, but the powers that be rarely seem to. As of right now, the film has no release scheduled, and it might be awhile until we hear anything. Michael seems to be moving forward with other projects, so the future of SILENT HILL: REVELATIONS remains out of his hands.

The synopsis: For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

SILENT HILL: REVELATIONS does have a good cast including Adelaide Clemens (below), Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Carrie-Anne Moss, Deborah Kara Unger, Malcolm McDowell and Kit Harington. Hopefully it will see the light of day at some stage …
