Thomas Jane, Billy Bob Thornton & James Marsden take on killer bear in Red Machine

You serious…I’d watch Billy Bob and Thomas Jane kill a six-pack, never mind a movie.

But thankfully – in what could be the coolest casting combo I’ve heard in some time – Jane, Thornton and James Marsden are set to star in David Hackl’s killer bear flick RED MACHINE. If you like flicks like THE EDGE and THE GREY (out next weekend), chances are RED MACHINE will fit tightly in your neck in the woods. Peep it…

Per THR, RED MACHINE centers around two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear — the Red Machine. Thornton will play a legendary bear expert and hunter.

Here’s what Hackl (SAW V) had to say about his intentions with the flick:

“In Red Machine I want to examine the thrill of very real fear…an audience is more easily drawn in by a story that they consider plausible and relatable — something that could actually take place in the real world. Just by the premise you know something bad is going to happen.”

Sounds like some swell, swell shite to me. I’m all about these man-vs.-nature flicks, especially when headed by badass actors. Thornton as a bear hunter and expert? How rad is that? Jane getting more A-list genre work? Love it! More on RED MACHINE as it stirs.
