Toby Kebbell of Kong & Apes films will menace Vin Diesel in Bloodshot

Kong: Skull Island Toby Kebbell

Actor Toby Kebbell is best known for being an ape, having provided the motion-capture performances for the Koba character in DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. He also helped out with the motion-capture performance for the legendary Kong in KONG: SKULL ISLAND. Kebbell played a human role in KONG as well, and he'll be putting the monkey business behind him with his next role, as he has signed on to play the villainous character Ax in the Valiant Comics adaptation BLOODSHOT.

Kebbell is no stranger to comic book adaptations; he played Dr. Victor Von Doom in the very poorly received 2015 version of FANTASTIC FOUR. Hopefully BLOODSHOT will help us continue to scrub that one from our memories.

Vin Diesel will be playing the title role in BLOODSHOT,

Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killer for the mob who is set up by the family and framed for a murder. He instead goes into Witness Protection, but is betrayed by an FBI agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers. Bloodshot escapes his makers, and though he isn’t his old self, he tries to figure out who he was. Things get bad for everybody who betrayed him.

Diesel and Kebbell are joined in the cast by Eiza Gonzalez, Michael Sheen, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, and Alex Hernandez.

BLOODSHOT will mark the feature directorial debut of Dave Wilson, who runs the visual effects company Blur Studio with DEADPOOL's Tim Miller. Working from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer, Wilson intends to make BLOODSHOT an R-rated film in the vein of ROBOCOP, THE TERMINATOR, and TOTAL RECALL.
