Universal has scheduled yet another monster flick for 2019

Universal monsters The Mummy Invisible Man

In this modern age of longform movie franchises culminating in huge team-ups à la THE AVENGERS and JUSTICE LEAGUE and raking in the box office, it's no surprise that Universal wants in on the fun. Their idea of a Universal monsters shared universe actually has a precedent (HOUSE OF DRACULA, anyone?), even if the way they're approaching things seems dubious.

However, with unique stars attached (Tom Cruise will battle THE MUMMY on June 9, 2017 and Johnny Depp will put on the least makeup he has in a while to portray THE INVISIBLE MAN in 2018 or 2019), the franchise might be worth keeping an eye on.

And already, a third player is going to be entering the ring. Universal has cleared a slot on February 15, 2019 for an as yet untitled third monster feature. That Valentine's Day release is suspicious. Could we be getting I, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN? Presumably, we'll hear the official title once they get some casting in place, but until then we'll just have to bite our fingers and deal with the impending MUMMY reboot.
