Warner Bros wants to spread the pandemic further in Contagion 2

Did you enjoy Steven Soderbergh's CONTAGION? If so, we've got some good news for you. It's on the Grid reports that Warner Bros issued an open writing assignment for CONTAGION 2. Scott Z. Burns, who penned the script for the first movie, will take up production duties this time around.

In case you forgot, here's the original movie's synopsis:

Contagion follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

It'll probably be a while before the sequel goes into production. Also, no word so far on the cast or whether Soderbergh would be returning to direct. We'll keep you posted.

Extra Tidbit: Apparently the first movie made over $135 million worldwide. Were you one of the cinemagoers who contributed to its success?
